Central Pneumatic 3-Way Quick Coupling Manifold (Review)

This is Central Pneumatic’s 3-Way Quick Coupling Manifold, and it works well.

Central Pneumatic 3-Way Quick Coupling Manifold 2

The instructions on the package of the manifold instruct the user to connect it to a 3/8 inch line. This would work for anyone that runs their compressor line from their truck or van, but I know that many of you use 1/4 inch fittings.

Central Pneumatic 3-Way Quick Coupling Manifold 3

I decided to forego the 3/8 inch line part and found a 3/8″ to 1/4″ coupling, and ran it off my trusty Rolair JC10. It would be great if the manifold came with the coupling and fitting used in this review, but I’m sure they wanted to keep costs down.

Central Pneumatic 3-Way Quick Coupling Manifold 4

(Assembled with a bit of Teflon. Make sure not to torque too much, as brass fittings are quite soft.)

Central Pneumatic 3-Way Quick Coupling Manifold 5

I can’t speak to the durability of the manifold, as I have only been using it for a week, but it looks like it will hold up well.

Hidden Fastening, Easier with SENCO’s New SHD150XP
Up to 80% Faster than Traditional Methods

CINCINNATI (April 19, 2016) – Speed and accuracy are essential to successful deck building. With SENCO’s new SHD150XP deck builders can now install SENCO Mantis brand hidden deck clips up to 80% faster than traditional fastening methods.

The tool features a rare earth magnet that holds clips in place while the patented aluminum EZ slide attachment guides and aligns SENCO Mantis deck clips into the proper position for quick and easy installation.

The SHD150XP drives collated reversible fasteners that are 1-1/2” in length with a .113” shank diameter and are paper collated at 34-degrees. These uniquely engineered fasteners are driven like a traditional nail but, can be easily backed out like a screw. The magazine has a capacity of 34 fasteners.

Weighing only 4.6 pounds, the SHD150XP is constructed with durable, high-quality materials while still being lightweight and ergonomically balanced and the overmolded grip helps increase all day comfort.

It also features a dry-fire lockout and signals when ready to reload. The adjustable rafter hanger helps keep the tool off the ground and easily rotates out of the way when not in use and the tool-free adjustable exhaust deflector can be twisted 360-degrees to keep exhaust air from the user.

The SHD150XP carries a five year limited warranty and includes wrenches, tool oil, safety glasses and an air plug.

Air Locker AP700 Professional Punch Nailer / Nail Remover

We tested the AP700 on soft-and hard woods, with nails ranging from 2 inches to 3.25 inches. It doesn’t claim to handle 16D nails, which is a heavier gauge than specified by the specs for the AP700, but we tried them, and the nails popped out without a hiccup.

On the pallets that we recycled, we removed spiral nails, common nails, and even a few rink shank nails from the sharp end. We did drive down a few nails by the head, but not through any board for our review.

The size of the AP700 is that of a brad nailer, but we were surprised with the power. As we wrote above, it has plenty of power to remove even 16D nails from the sharp end, so don’t be misled by the size of the tool.

Our Recommendation: If you’re a pro or a DIYer with more than one room’s worth of nails to pull, we recommend that you get this tool. On the very first day of use, it will pay for itself.

Senco RoofPro 455XP Roofing Coil Nailer

When I first started doing remodeling work about 20 years ago, my parents took me to the local tool distributor and asked them what the best nailer would be for me. The owner of the place pointed to a Senco.

What I remember about my first Senco nailer was that it was built like a tank, really smooth, had very little recoil, and was reliable. Well, fast-forward 20 years, and that’s how I’d describe the Senco 455XP. The Senco 455XP is an elegant tool.

Power: The recoil on this nailer is very light, yet it drives with power to the set depth.

Depth Adjustment: I commonly use roofing nailers for felt, flashing, siding, and not just for shingles. The  455XP adjusts well to each of the jobs mentioned above.

Ergonomics: The 455XP is a well-balanced nailer. I think the weight of the 455XP tames the felt recoil to a minimum.

The next time you are in the market for a roofing nailer, do yourself a favor and check out the Senco 455XP. I’m sure in 20 years, you’ll be thanking yourself that you did.
